At the Branford Boase Award party last night (Thursday, 29th June, 2006), Jacqueline Wilson presented six new young writers with their certificates and prizes for winning the Henrietta Branford Writing Competition.

The competition asked budding writers to continue a story-opening written by Meg Rosoff, who last year won the Branford Boase Award with her novel ‘How We Live Now’.
The judges were looking for genuine creativity, expressed in originality of approach as well as technical competence and an evident enjoyment of language.
